Step 1: Invent-a-word:
Follow in Nick Allen's footsteps and invent your very own word. Select any item in your classroom and give it a new name. Be sure to choose an item that is often used (like a pen). The only catch is that you cannot make a new word for pen. Challenge your inner creativity and use the attached handout to invent a new word. After making your selection, journal about why you chose the word and object that you did to invent your new word.

Step 2: Add your new word to the dictionary:
Congratulations on the creation of your new word! Now, it is time for you to add your creation to the dictionary for others to use. Use word central to add your word to Websters dictionary.
Step 3: Word Advertisement:
Now, you will take on the role of Bud Lawrence, the salesman, and you will advertise your new word to the public by creating posters to promote your creativity. Be sure to add a value to your product and include catchy phrases and illustrations to persuade others to use your product. Use the priting press machine and the attached rubric to assist you in building your posters. Remember to challenge yourself to create something awesome and original!

Step 4: TV Commercial:
The best part of advertising are the great commercials and jingles that play on television and inspire consumers to go out and buy new products. Using animated characters and exciting dialogue, you will create a tv commercial to help market your newly created word and product. Review the rubric for commercial creation and then animate your commercial with Voki. Voki Frindle Rubrics
